Is SIG P226 too large to conceal carry?
The P226 is an awesome shooter and using Mec-gar 18 rd. flush mags gives it a capacity advantage over the P229 for carry. But I found it too heavy and bulky to easily conceal. The P226 is now my nightstand gun with rail light and 20 rd. mags. The P229 can easily conceal IWB with flush 15 rd. mags and use the P226 20rd. mags as reloads.

There is no external safety on the P226 or any other Sig in that series. You have the magazine release, the slide release, and the decocking lever. We issue the same gun as the P229 (.40 but otherwise identical) and occasionally on the range officers will hit the slide release rather than the decocking lever.
