What do you use GAC 100 for?

What do you use GAC 100 for?

GACs can be used to extend acrylic colors, to regulate transparency, create glazes, increase gloss, reduce viscosity or improve adhesion and film integrity. GAC polymers can also be used for binding pigment solids for various effects and surfaces.

Can you paint GAC 100?

GACs can be blended with GOLDEN Acrylic Paints to extend the paint, regulate transparency, create glazes, increase gloss, reduce viscosity or improve adhesion and film integrity.

Is GAC 100 the same as gesso?

GOLDEN Fluid Matte Medium, Matte Medium or GAC 100 (for acrylics) will all work well as clear “gessoes” to allow the look and texture of the canvas or other support to show through. GOLDEN Fluid Matte Medium and Matte Medium will result in a clear and matte surface, while the GAC 100 yields a glossy finish.

What is the difference between GAC 100 and GAC 200?

GAC 100 is able to wet out solids better than other GAC mediums (perfect for creating your own paints). GAC 100 also extends colors and increases flexibility. GAC 200 is used to increase film hardness and increase bond to non-porous surfaces. Please note that some surfaces (like glass) will not have a permanent bond.

How long does GAC 100 take to dry?

Gac 100 doesn’t take long to dry—around 30 minutes. Wait for the first layer of sealer to dry before applying the second layer. Sand your surface to give an even ground for the first layer of gesso to adhere to. It’s optional to dilute your gesso.

Does GAC 100 seal wood?

Can I dilute GAC 100?

The GAC 100 is a useful polymer for protecting against Support Induced Discoloration (S.I.D.). The most flexible with a moderate level of tack and gloss. Useful for diluting and extending colours, increasing flexibility and film integrity, sizing for fabric and sealing for wood.

How long should GAC 100 dry between coats?

Do not sand between layers. Before applying oil primer or the painting ground, allow the GAC100 to dry for 1-3 days so that the sealer can coalesce into a uniform film for maximum protection. If you’re using Gamblin® PVA Size, use 2 coats and follow the same application instructions as for the GAC100.

Can I use GAC 100 as an isolation coat?

It is the most flexible of all GOLDEN’s “GACs”, and is excellent for use as an isolation coat on paintings prior to varnishing or on raw canvas before gessoing, to prevent any migration of substances from the canvas the paint layers. It has moderate tack and gloss.
