Can Borg assimilation be reversed?
Captain Picard was assimilated by the Borg collective and turned into a drone. When he was freed from it, all traces of Borg hardware were removed from his body and he returned to being a fully-functional human (physically, at least). That shows that it is possible to completely reverse the Borg assimilation process.

Why do the Borg ignore?
Picard says the Borg would ignore them if they don’t consider them a threat, but presumably the crew in engineering and the occupants of sick bay weren’t a threat either. Regardless if the answer, still the best Trek film. The first duty of every Starfleet officer is to the truth.
