Is Harbeth a good speaker?
Harbeth Super HL5 Plus are very well-balanced and open sounding speakers with quality midrange and impressive bottom end dynamics end extension. They are more airy and tonally leaner than most of the other speakers within Harbeth range.

Are Spendor speakers good?
Spendor A4 are very vivid and dynamic sounding speakers. They can sound open and very engaging in large rooms at high volume levels, but too bass-heavy in small to medium size rooms, unless listened to at relatively low volume. Quality midrange and treble but towards the cooler side of natural.

Does removing speaker grill affect sound?
In the end, the question of whether the speakers will sound better with or without grilles leans toward the answer that most speakers technically perform better without grilles, but it can vary with speaker, and also the difference will likely be a subtle one if it can be heard at all.
What do you think about the Harbeth/Spendor line?
I had the Spendor S-100’s for many years as well as a pair of Compact 7s. I’ve also heard the rest of the Harbeth line. Personally, I just love the Harbeth/Spendor sound–instruments and voices sound so real and natural. There is zero listening fatigue. They just sound “right” to me.
Is the Harbeth P3ESR any good?
All Harbeth including P3ESR are good, a matter of preference which one to pick. No experience with Spendor or other BBC speaker. bhazen and novak like this. I had a demo a while back that included the P3ESR, SHL5+ and the then-newly introduced Spendor Classic 2/3.
Are there any harbeths/spendors that have been demoed?
I’ve had several Harbeths and several Spendors, from the P3s (incl 40th) and SA1/D1 to the larger mid models from both companies, have demoed (but briefly) the Falcons, and now have the Stirling V3.
How does the Spendor classic 2/3 compare to the spendors?
By comparison the Spendor Classic 2/3 were a bit deeper and darker. At the time I thought a little too much so, though solo piano sounded stunning. On reflection I think that long term, perhaps the Spendors might have been best for me, but the M30.1s I ended up with are excellent too.
