What is friction drag torque?
Free running, prevailing, or friction drag torque is the amount of torque it takes to turn the nut on the threads. This value will be very small for a plain nut and somewhat higher for a self-locking nut. Regardless of the number, this torque value must be added to the desired torque to achieve final torque.
What is the torque for an 8mm bolt?
We recommend you use torque values specified below: For bolts with a 6mm Thread Diameter: 20Nm. For bolts with a 8mm Thread Diameter: 22Nm. For bolts with a 10mm Thread Diameter: 25Nm.
Does friction affect torque?
The torque can be affected by an opposing force that results from a resistant surface. This opposing force is referred to as friction.
What should a clutch be torqued to?
A small amount of threadlocking compound is recommended on all clutch fasteners. DO NOT use a washer with this pressure plate bolt. Tighten all bolts evenly, ΒΌ turn at a time in a crisscross pattern until pressure plate is completely drawn-up to the flywheel. Final torque to: 25 – 28 ft/lbs.
What is the recommended torque for nut-bolt combinations (without lubrication)?

What is the tensile strength of AN3 through AN20?
AN3 thru AN20 – AIRFRAME BOLTS AN3 thru AN20 – AIRFRAME BOLTSSteel – Cadmium plated per QQ-P-416, Type II, Class 3. Aluminum Alloy. 431 Stainless Steel (CRES). Minimum Tensile Strength (Steel and CRES) – 125,000psi. See Chart AN42 thru AN49 EYEBOLTSSteel – Cadmium plated per QQ-P-416, Type II, Class 3. CRES.
Are an310-3 bolts the same tensile strength as an3c bolts?
AN3 bolts use AN365-1032A (Cad Plated) or AN365C-1032 (Stainless) for locknuts and AN310-3 for castle nuts. Q: Are the stainless bolts (AN3C) the same tensile strength as the cad plated ones? The tech data sheet does not list a separate tensile strength for corrosion-resistant steel bolts.
What are head aircraft bolts made of?
Hex head aircraft bolts are made of high-strength type 4037 or 8740 alloy steel (type 8740 is most commonly used). The bolts are centerless ground and threaded after heat treatment. Minimum tensile strength 125,000 PSI. Cadmium plated per specification QQ-P-416A, Type II, Class 3.
