What is Iwdg STM32?

What is Iwdg STM32?

Hello and welcome to this presentation of the STM32 independent watchdog (IWDG). It covers the main features of this peripheral which can be used either as a watchdog to reset the microcontroller when a problem occurs, or as a free-running timer for application timeout management.

What is WWDG?

The window watchdog is used to detect the occurrence of software faults. It can be programmed to detect abnormally late or early application behavior. It is best suited for applications required to react within an accurate timing window. Once enabled, it can only be disabled by a device reset.

How do I disable Iwdg STM32?

According to the reference manual, once the IWDG is started it cannot be stopped except by a Reset. You could intentionally cause a Reset, and on starting from reset have a test that checks if the power supply has failed. If so it just goes into deep sleep rather than starting execution normally.

What is analog watchdog?

The analogue watchdog on STM32 is simply a means of generating an interrupt when some external voltage drops below or exceeds a programmable threshold level.

What is window watchdog timer?

A Windowed Watchdog Timer (WWDT) acts as a system supervisor that ensures normal operation of the software. If the software execution takes longer or shorter than expected, the WWDT issues a reset of the microcontroller (MCU).

What is sampling time in ADC?

The sampling time is the ADC clock cycles for which the sample and hold capacitor is charged up to the channel input voltage. The ADC then requires another 12 clock cycles to convert to 12 bits accuracy.

What is ADC STM32?

STM32 ADC Brief The STM32F103C8 (Blue Pill) & STM32F432KC have a 12-bit ADC which is a successive approximation analog-to-digital converter. It has up to 18 multiplexed channels allowing it to measure signals from sixteen external and two internal sources.

How does watchdog timer work?

A watchdog timer is a simple countdown timer which is used to reset a microprocessor after a specific interval of time. In a properly operating system, software will periodically “pet” or restart the watchdog timer. After being restarted, the watchdog will begin timing another predetermined interval.

What is a watchdog relay?

Watchdog Relay monitors the output of a connected device to add an extra level of safety. Watchdog’s built-in Form C relay will immediately energize and provide a signal that can be used to safely shut down the process. The signal sent upon loss of control helps to avoid costly damage to materials and equipment.

What does WWD mean in texting slang?

What does WWD stand for?

WWD World Wide Domination
WWD Words With Dots (like X.25, X.400, Etc)

What is ADC clock frequency?

ADC clock frequency = XTAL frequency / Prescaler. The ADC clock frequency must lie somewhere between 50 kHz to 200 kHz to get maximum resolution. If ADC resolution of less than 10 bits required, then the ADC clock frequency can be higher than 200 kHz. At 1 MHz it is possible to achieve eight bits of maximum resolution.

What is ADC saturation?

The computer would thus interpret the voltage being sent to be +10 mV, which would be in error. This error is called saturation of the ADC. However, the input signal should span as much of the ADC input voltage range as possible, without saturating the ADC, since this increases the signal to noise ratio.

What is watchdog used for?

A watchdog timer (sometimes called a computer operating properly or COP timer, or simply a watchdog) is an electronic or software timer that is used to detect and recover from computer malfunctions.

Why do we need a watchdog timer?

The primary application of a watchdog timer is as a system monitor to detect and reset an “out of control” microprocessor. When program execution goes awry it will not properly execute the code that restarts the watchdog. In such a case the watchdog timer will timeout and cause a microcontroller reset.
