Who can fly on Honor Flight?

Honor Flight Network recognizes American veterans for your sacrifices and achievements by flying you to Washington, D.C. to see YOUR memorial at no cost. Top priority is given to World War II and terminally ill veterans from all wars. Honor Flight Network has expanded to include Korean War and Vietnam War veterans.

What do you do on Honor Flight?

​The Honor Flight Network Participation in an Honor Flight trip gives veterans the opportunity to share this momentous occasion with other comrades, to remember friends and comrades lost, and share their stories and experiences with other veterans. All honored veterans travel at no cost to the veteran.

What do you see on Honor Flight?

The veterans tour the Marine Corps War Memorial (best known as “Iwo Jima”), the Air Force Memorial and the FDR National Memorial. If there is inclement weather, the veterans tour the National Air and Space Museum, Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, where the Enola Gay is on display.

What should I wear on Honor Flight?

We don’t have a dress code for this, we’re just happy to have you and a guest join us if you’d like. For flight day however, you will be required to wear a blue Midwest Honor Flight shirt that we will provide for you at the banquet the night before or the morning of flight.

What do you say to a veteran on Honor Flight?

Make the letter out to “Dear Veteran,” as we fly World War II and Korean War veterans. Thank them for their service, for our freedoms and for our country. These can be letters or cards. Please do not draw violent pictures, but certainly include pictures like tanks, soldiers, US flags and other fun drawings.

How much does it cost for a guardian on an Honor Flight?

Are there any requirements in order to be a guardian? You need to pay your cost of the trip. The current cost is $1500 which covers air and land transportation, food, lodging, attraction entrance fees, flight bag, jacket, and t-shirts. Payment is not due until you are assigned to a trip.

How does a veteran qualify for an Honor Flight?

Who qualifies as a veteran for a Tour of Honor? Anyone who served in the US military in active duty or in a reserve capacity qualifies for a trip. US Military includes Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marines.
